Getting your small business website online is easy! We realize that to some, the concept of getting a website online may be overwhelming. Well, don't worry. We're here to help you. Follow the directions below to let us get your site online for you.
- We recommend GoDaddy.com as a domain registrar. But you can use whatever domain registrar you wish.
- Look for an available domain name for your site and purchase it. GoDaddy charges approximately $18 for a two-year registration.
- HINT: You DO NOT have to try to squeeze keyterms into your domain name. We recommend looking for a short, easy-to-spell domain name.
- Example: Let's say your business provides landscaping services in Boise, Idaho
- BAD DOMAIN NAME: www.boiselandscapingandmowingservices.com (too long, too many words, high chance of a visitor mistyping)
- GOOD DOMAIN NAME: www.boisescape.com (short, easy to read, easy to say)
- Many people purchase long domain names because they think the keywords in the domain will help in search engines. That's true, but it helps to such a small effect that you lose more than you gain by doing this.
- NOTE: If you choose GoDaddy, they will try to upsell you on a lot of services. You typically will not need any of that. Just keep looking for the "no thanks" buttons on each page.
- NOTE: You will be asked to create a password when you check out. Keep a record of this. You will need it later.
- Change your domain name DNS (or Name Server) records to the following:
- Primary: DNS1.APPLIEDI.NET
- Secondary: DNS2.APPLIEDI.NET
- These changes can be made in your domain account fairly easily. However, if you run into trouble we can do this for you at no charge. Simply send us your domain name account login (user name and password) when you send your other information.
- If you would like us to register a domain on your behalf, we can do so. Simply choose that option when you purchase your website layout. Let us know what available domain name you would like. Check availability at GoDaddy.com
- Browse our catalog here
- When you find your website, add it to your cart and check out via our easy online checkout system.
- Choose your domain name and hosting options at this stage.
- When you complete the checkout, you will receive an email with detailed instructions on how to submit your information.
- Email us your typed & formatted page content in one of the following file formats (see Tips for Creating a Better Site for tips on writing text):
- Microsoft Word for Windows (.doc or .docx)
- .txt format
- Email text
- HTML format
- NOTE: Ensure you make clear what text goes with what web page
- Email us your pictures to be put on the pages:
- Please keep file size of each picture to no more than 500k
- Maximum of three pictures per page. We will place appropriately. Due to the nature of HTML (web) pages, we cannot place pictures at exact locations on pages (web layout works very different than does print layout).
- Ensure you specify which pictures go on which page.
- If you are purchasing a gallery upgrade, you may include the additional pictures.
- We will do final format of all pictures for the web for optimum loading speeds and resolution.
Email us your requested page names.
- Web Hosting:
- If we are providing hosting for you, you do not need to do anything.
- If you are supplying your own web host, please email us your FTP login information (user name and password)

- Once your site is online, you will have the opportunity to submit final edits.
- This is where you can make tweaks and changes to the text you submitted.
- There is no charge for these edits.
- NOTE: If your changes involve major reworks of page content and/or images, additional charges may apply.
